MPOGCF menyalurkan dana berjumlah RM221,000 bagi menyokong pelaksanaan projek penyelidikan bertajuk “Biodiversity Value of Epiphytes and Understory Vegetation on Microinvertebrates Diversity and Vertebrates Abundances in Malaysian Oil Palm Ecosystem”.
MPOGCF diwakili Pengurus Besar, Hairulazim Mahmud manakala UiTM diwakili Naib Canselor UiTM, YBhg. Profesor Datuk Ts. Dr. Shahrin Sahib @ Sahibuddin.
Pertukaran MOA disaksikan oleh Ahli Lembaga Pemegang Amanah MPOGCF, Dr. Ramle Moslim dan Dekan Fakulti Sains Gunaan UiTM, Prof. Dr. Mohd. Rozi Ahmad.

MPOGCF and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) have established a research collaboration to identify the diversity of flora in oil palm plantations, assess its relationship with faunal diversity, and compare biodiversity management practices between independent smallholders and plantation companies.
MPOGCF has allocated RM221,000 to support the implementation of the research project entitled “Biodiversity Value of Epiphytes and Understory Vegetation on Microinvertebrates Diversity and Vertebrates Abundances in Malaysian Oil Palm Ecosystem.”
The two-year research project commenced in March 2025 and will continue until February 2027.
The study involves the inventory of epiphytes, understory vegetation, microinvertebrates, small mammals and bird species using various sampling methods across sites located near forest areas, within the plantation interior and along plantation edges. This approach aims to evaluate the relationship between floral diversity and faunal diversity within the oil palm plantation ecosystem.
The findings are expected to demonstrate that the retention of epiphytes and understory vegetation can enhance biodiversity in oil palm plantations, thereby supporting more sustainable, environmentally friendly and resilient oil palm management practices.
On 3 July 2026, MPOGCF and UiTM held a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) Exchange Ceremony for the research collaboration at the Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Chancellery Building, UiTM Shah Alam.
MPOGCF was represented by its General Manager, Hairulazim Mahmud, while UiTM was represented by its Vice-Chancellor, YBhg. Professor Datuk Ts. Dr. Shahrin Sahib @ Sahibuddin.
The MoA exchange was witnessed by Dr. Ramle Moslim, Member of the MPOGCF Board of Trustees, and Professor Dr. Mohd. Rozi Ahmad, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, UiTM
