MPOGCF menyumbang RM30,000 bagi menyokong penganjuran Biodiversity in Palm Oil Landscapes in Sarawak (BIOPALS) 2026, sebuah simposium yang memberi tumpuan kepada pemuliharaan biodiversiti dalam landskap kelapa sawit di Sarawak.
Dianjurkan oleh Institute of Biodiversity and Environmental Conservation (IBEC), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) pada 14 Ogos 2026, BIOPALS 2026 menjadi platform penting untuk mengetengahkan hasil penyelidikan saintifik, pemantauan biodiversiti serta amalan pengurusan mesra biodiversiti dalam landskap kelapa sawit.
Simposium yang menghimpunkan lebih 150 peserta terdiri daripada penyelidik, pelajar, agensi kerajaan, pemain industri dan pengamal pemuliharaan ini turut mengetengahkan peranan pengurusan landskap kelapa sawit secara bertanggungjawab dalam menyokong kepelbagaian flora dan fauna. Antara pendekatan yang dibincangkan ialah pemeliharaan kawasan bernilai pemuliharaan tinggi (HCV), zon penampan riparian, fragmen hutan serta habitat yang saling berhubung.
Dalam program yang sama, MPOGCF dan UNIMAS turut mengadakan sesi pertukaran Memorandum Perjanjian (MOA) bagi pelaksanaan projek penyelidikan bertajuk “Assessing Multiple Functional Habitats in Forest Patch–Oil Palm Interfaces Using Bat Sampling in WILMAR Plantation.”

MPOGCF contributed RM30,000 to support the organisation of Biodiversity in Palm Oil Landscapes in Sarawak (BIOPALS) 2026, a symposium focusing on biodiversity conservation within oil palm landscapes in Sarawak.
Organised by the Institute of Biodiversity and Environmental Conservation (IBEC), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) on 14 August 2026, BIOPALS 2026 served as an important platform to showcase scientific research findings, biodiversity monitoring efforts, and biodiversity-friendly management practices within oil palm landscapes.
The symposium brought together more than 150 participants, comprising researchers, students, government agencies, industry players and conservation practitioners. It also highlighted the role of responsible oil palm landscape management in supporting flora and fauna diversity. Among the approaches discussed were the conservation of High Conservation Value (HCV) areas, riparian buffer zones, forest fragments and interconnected habitats.
As part of the programme, MPOGCF and UNIMAS also held a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) exchange ceremony for the implementation of a research project entitled “Assessing Multiple Functional Habitats in Forest Patch–Oil Palm Interfaces Using Bat Sampling in WILMAR Plantation.”
